Dear Tina,
Thank you for opening your beloved Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse to the
residents of Atterdag Village. The afternoon you shared with us was so much
more than a tour—it was a gift of history, storytelling, and connection. Our
residents have not stopped talking about their visit. They were captivated by
your knowledge, your passion, and the remarkable care you have taken to
restore and preserve such an important piece of our local heritage.
As I listened to you tell the story of the schoolhouse, I found myself reflecting
on the many years I have been fortunate enough to know you. From our days
teaching together, to bringing my third graders to experience living history
through your wonderful field trips, and now watching you inspire another
generation—our seniors—you have always given so generously of your time,
talents, and heart.
For ten years, my students left your schoolhouse with a deeper understanding
of history and a sense of wonder. Now, years later, I had the privilege of
watching our residents experience that same wonder. Few people have the
ability to make history come alive the way you do.
Your friendship over these past fifteen years has meant more to me than I can
adequately express. You have inspired me as an educator, enriched my life as a
friend, and shown me what it looks like to dedicate yourself to preserving
something meaningful for others. The impact you have had on our community
reaches far beyond the walls of that little schoolhouse.
Thank you for sharing your passion with us once again. Please know how much
it meant to me personally, and how much joy it brought to our residents.
